Salem Media Group is America’s leading multimedia company specializing in Christian and conservative content, with media properties comprising radio, digital media and book and newsletter publishing.
This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of Salem Media Group, Inc. and our affiliated brands (including, but not limited to, Salem, Eagle Financial, and other media business brands which link back to this Privacy Policy) (collectively “we,” “us,” “our”). If it is posted on one of Salem Media Group, Inc.’s respective brand websites, applications, or Services, it also describes the privacy practices of that respective brand. However, a business within Salem Media Group, Inc. may have its own privacy policy and practices. Therefore we encourage you to closely review this policy and any business’s respective privacy policy before sharing information with us or one of our businesses. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy do not use our Services and do not share information with us or our respective businesses.
We have adopted this Privacy Policy to explain what information may be collected when you access the Salem Media Group website or any other website on which we place this Privacy Policy (“Websites”), access or use any of our mobile or other applications (each, an “App”), or access or use any of our other services, such as our publication or subscription services, purchase our products, call-in to our radio shows, attend one of our events, stream content, participate in our promotions, or use our other services (collectively with the Websites and Apps, the “Services”). This Policy also describes how we and others may use information about you, under what circumstances we may disclose the information to third parties, and the instances in which we may allow third parties to collect information directly. Depending on your activities when using or accessing our Services, you may from time-to-time be required to agree to additional terms and conditions. For clarity, our Services also include any promotion which refers to this Privacy Policy for terms regarding the collection and use of your information.
Our Services are performed in the United States and directed at individuals in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, you should not access or use our Services and should not share information with us. If you are located outside of the United States and believe you have shared your personal information with us, please inform us as soon as possible.
Please note that this Privacy Policy applies only to information we collect about you through our Services and information you voluntarily provide to us in person at our events and does not apply to our collection of information through other methods (e.g., employment), information provided to us by third parties, or information you provide to third parties.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to data where your identity has been removed so that we can no longer identify you (de-identified data), which we may use for any purpose.
Modifications to this Privacy Policy
We keep this Privacy Policy linked to our Websites and our Apps. You should review this Privacy Policy frequently, as it may change from time to time and without notice. Any changes will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy. WHEN YOU USE OUR SERVICES, YOU AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY, OR TO ANY CHANGES WE MAY SUBSEQUENTLY MAKE, IMMEDIATELY STOP USING OUR SERVICES.
Please note, however, that if we decide to use your personal information in a manner materially different from what is provided in this Privacy Policy or what we advised at the time it was collected, we will notify you of this change by e-mail to the last e-mail address provided to us or through our Services. You will have a choice as to whether we use your information in this different manner. In such case, we will use your personal information in accordance with the terms and Privacy Policy in place when the information was collected.
A. INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT
We collect and maintain information in a manner that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household (“personal information”). Personal information does not include:
- Publicly available information from government records.
- Deidentified information.
We may have collected information in some or all of the following categories from you depending on the nature of your interactions with us, and we have collected the following categories of personal information from our consumers within the last twelve (12) months.
Identifiers. Examples of identifiers include your name, postal address, online and social media usernames, Internet Protocol (IP) address, email address, phone number, account name, credit or debit card number, credit or debit card security code or CVC, date of birth, tax identification number, or other similar identifiers.
Personal Information Categories listed in the California Customer Records statute. Examples of this type of information include your name, address, telephone number, or credit card number or other financial information, such as investment data.
Protected classification characteristics under California or federal law. Examples of these characteristics include your age, religion or creed, marital status, political affiliation or activities, sex, and veteran or military status.
Commercial information. Examples of this information include records of Services you accessed, listened to, viewed, purchased, obtained, or considered, or your purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies.
Internet or other similar network activity. Examples of this information include your browsing history, search history, and information on your interaction with a website, application, email, or advertisement.
Geolocation data. Examples of this information include your imprecise physical location when you use devices such as a computer or mobile phone to access or use our Services.
Inferences drawn from other personal information. Examples of these inferences include a profile reflecting your preferences, characteristics, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, abilities, and aptitudes.
Sensitive personal information. In addition to the protected classification characteristics described above, examples include your debit or credit card number in combination with the security code, your tax identification number, and your social security number.
Other information: Depending on which of our Services you access or use, we may also collect information about who referred you to our Services, the church with which you are involved, our interactions with you, including information about your calls to our radio programs, Christmas gifts requested or given, and any feedback you may provide in the form of surveys, comments, posts made to our social media accounts, comments made on our radio shows or other media, information provided to us to participate in promotions or give aways, and other information you may post that is publicly available. As noted, publicly available information is not subject to this Privacy Policy. Accordingly, please do not publicly share or post any information that you wish to keep private.
B. HOW WE MAY COLLECT INFORMATION
We, and our service providers, obtain the categories of personal information listed above from the following categories of sources, and we have collected personal information from the following categories of sources in the 12 months prior to this Policy’s effective date:
Directly from you. For example, from forms you complete; products and Services you purchase, access, or use; when you register for an account, Services, or events; enter contests, competitions, or promotions; when you complete surveys or questionnaires, provide feedback, or request customer service; contact us or our shows, including calling-in to our radio shows or participating in our other media productions or events; post comments or provide photos, videos, or other information to our websites, applications, or social media pages; interact with us via third-party applications or social media sites; when you purchase our products, subscribe to our services, or join our clubs; when you make a donation; or when you otherwise communicate with us.
Automatically from your devices. Information associated with you and/or your device(s) may automatically be collected or received as part of your use of our websites, applications, emails, and other Services (such as video, television, podcast, trivia, or other content-based services) through device-based tracking technologies such as cookies, pixels, tags, beacons, scripts, or other technology. We may also automatically collect or receive such information any time you interact with our advertising and content on other websites and platforms. Advertisers and other third parties also may collect information from your interaction with advertising on our websites, applications, or other Services.
From third parties. We may collect information about you from other sources, such as publicly available databases and other third parties that have the right to share your personal information. We also may receive information about you from vendors and service providers we hire to help us run our businesses, including the companies that host or operate our websites, applications, and platforms, collect debts or process payments for us, provide customer service, send emails for us, conduct surveys or promotions, fulfill orders, provide marketing, analytics, and advertising services, host our content, or facilitate our events. We also may receive information about you from our business partners, including businesses with whom we partner for promotions or who advertise with us. We also may obtain personal information about you from advertising networks and search information providers. Additionally, other users of our Services may provide us with your personal information so that we may invite you to use our Services.
C. COOKIES AND AUTOMATIC DATA COLLECTION TECHNOLOGIES
(1) Cookies/Web Beacons. We automatically receive and store certain types of personal information whenever you interact with our Services. For example, like many websites, we use “cookies,” “web beacons” (also called “clear gifs” or “pixel tags”) and embedded scripts to obtain certain types of information when you use or access our Services. “Cookies” are small files that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive or your web browser memory to enable our systems to recognize your browser and to provide convenience and other features to you. “Web beacons” are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and may be used to track the online movements of users, when an email has been opened, and to provide other information.
Examples of the information we collect and analyze in this manner include the Internet Protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the Internet; computer and connection information such as browser type and version, operating system, and platform; your activities while using our Services, including the products and content you view or searched for, as well as the URL you come from and go to next (whether or not this URL is on our Website); and cookie number.
You may block or limit the storage of cookies via browser controls or other software. You may also be able to delete cookies manually from your device through your internet browser, operating system or other programs. Please note, however, that some portions of our Services will not function properly or be available if you block and/or delete certain cookies.
(2) Interest-Based Advertising. Some content or applications within our Services, including advertisements, are served by third parties, including advertisers, ad networks, servers, content partners, or application providers. These third parties may use cookies alone or in conjunction with web beacons or other tracking technologies to collect information about you when you use our Services. The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities over time and across different websites and other online services. They may use this information to provide you with interest-based (behavioral) advertising or other targeted content. Our partners may use non-cookie technologies on which browser settings that block cookies might have no effect. Your browser may not permit you to block such technologies.
You may block the collection and use of information related to you by advertising companies for the purpose of serving interest-based advertising by visiting the following websites of self-regulatory programs of which those companies are members: (1) the Digital Advertising Alliance’s website (www.aboutads.info); or (2) the Network Advertising Initiative’s website (www.networkadvertising.org/choices).
Finally, please note that certain browsers may offer the option of providing notice to websites that you do not wish for your online activities to be tracked for interest-based advertising purposes (Global Privacy Control Notice or universal opt out mechanism).
We will respond to and abide by the signals sent through universal opt out mechanisms that are consistent with applicable law.
D. HOW WE MAY USE & SHARE INFORMATION
Sharing Personal Information
We may share your personal information among brands and subsidiaries of Salem Media Group. We may also disclose your personal information to a third party for a business purpose or sell your personal information, subject to your right to opt-out of those sales (see Personal Information Sales Opt-Out Rights). Third parties that purchase personal information from us may resell it, subject to any opt-out by you of further sale of your information.
We may share or sell, and in the twelve (12) months preceding the effective date of this Privacy Policy have shared or sold, personal information in the categories of information described in the Information We May Collect section above to or with the following categories of third parties:
- Service providers. We share personal information with vendors who help us with certain services, including customer support, email and text message deployment, research and analytics, marketing and advertising services, data processing, management, and analytics, fraud prevention, transaction and payment processing, ticketing for events, newsletter distribution, host content, promotion and survey administration, and order fulfillment.
- Business Partners, Advertisers, and other Third Parties. With appropriate consent where required, we may share personal information with or make it available to our sponsors, partners, advertising networks, advertising servers, and analytics companies or other third parties in connection with our and their marketing, promotional and other offers, as well as product information.
- We may share your information with individual third parties supported by Salem Media Group services, such as independent radio show hosts, podcasters, and other content providers. Personal information which may be shared with such third parties will be used by us for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, but such third parties may use such information for their own use and purposes which are not covered by this Privacy Policy. - We may share your information with Google Analytics to analyze use of our Services. For more information about how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, please visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/ or Google’s Privacy Policy. And for information about the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On, please visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Audience Measurement Services. We may share personal information with audience measurement companies like Nielsen.
- Law Enforcement, Regulators, Courts, and other Governmental Authorities. We share any of the categories of information we collect, pursuant to applicable law, to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, and other law enforcement measures, to comply with other legal obligations, to respond to an emergency, or otherwise to protect our or the rights, property, safety, or security of other parties, visitors to or users of our Services, or the public.
- Business or Asset Transfers. In the event Salem or any Salem subsidiary is involved in a merger, acquisition, transfer of control, bankruptcy, reorganization, or sale of assets, or diligence associated with such matters, we may share personal information. For example, if another entity acquires us or all or substantially all of our assets, or assets relating to any of our businesses, your information may be disclosed to that entity as part of the due diligence process and may be transferred to that entity as one of the transferred assets.
We may also disclose information for the following purposes:
- To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.
- With your consent.
- For any other purpose as may be permitted by law or that we describe when you provide the information.
- To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including responding to any government or regulatory request.
- To enforce our Terms of Use, this Privacy Policy, or other applicable policies or agreements with you.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of our business, employees, customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of cybersecurity, fraud protection, and credit risk reduction.
- To investigate suspected violations of any law, rule or regulation, or the terms or policies for our website.
- To contact you about our own or third parties’ products and services that may be of interest to you. If you do not want us to use your information in this way, please opt-out as directed when you receive such an email from us. For more information, see Your Rights and Choices below.

E. OTHER USES & INFORMATION
(1) Email Communications: If you send us an email with questions or comments, we may use your personally identifiable information to respond to your questions or comments, and we may save your questions or comments for future reference. For security reasons, we do not recommend that you send non-public personal information, such as passwords, social security numbers, or bank account information, to us by email. However, aside from our reply to such an email, it is not our standard practice to send you email unless (a) you request a particular service or sign up for a feature that involves email communications, (b) the email relates to purchases you have made with us (e.g., product updates, customer support, etc.), (c) we are sending you information about our other products and services, (d) or you consented to being contacted by email for a particular purpose. In certain instances, we may provide you with the option to set your preferences for receiving email communications from us; that is, agree to some communications but not others. You may “opt out” of receiving future commercial email communications from us by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included at the bottom of most emails we send, or as provided below; provided, however, we reserve the right to send you transactional emails such as customer service communications.
(2) Text Messaging: By opting into any of our text message programs, you acknowledge and agree you are expressly consenting to receiving automated mobile text (e.g., SMS and/or MMS or successor protocols or technologies) messages/alerts (collectively, “Text Messages”) that may be sent using automated technology, including through an automatic telephone dialing system or auto dialer. You “opt in” whenever you voluntarily provide us your mobile number via our Services or otherwise for either or both of the following purposes: (a) Transactional: to receive non-marketing communications, including information about an order you have placed or about your membership or account with us; and/or (b) Marketing: to receive marketing communications, including information regarding promotions, Services, offers, advertising, events, other marketing-related activities related to or associated with our products or Services (as well as our partners). You further acknowledge and agree:
- By opting in, you expressly consent to us and our businesses sending you these Text Messages even if your mobile number is registered on any state or federal “Do Not Call” list.
- You understand and acknowledge that providing consent to receive any of our Text Messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services and that your participation is completely voluntary.
- You are 18 years of age or older and that you are the current subscriber or authorized user of the mobile number you have provided. You agree that you will not use our Text Messaging program to initiate messages to the mobile phone of any other person or entity without authorization. If you change, forfeit, or deactivate the phone number you have provided to us, you agree to notify us immediately.
- Message and data rates may apply for any Text Messages sent to you from us and to us from you. The maximum number of messages per month you will receive will vary based your activity and/or the text message program in which you have enrolled. If you have any questions about your text or data plan, please contact your wireless provider.
- OPT-OUT OR STOP: If you wish to stop receiving text messages from us, reply with “STOP” to any text message you receive from our Services or businesses. You may also stop text messages by emailing us at info@salemmedia.com.
- HELP OR SUPPORT: If at any time you need help, reply with “HELP” to any text message your receive from our Services or businesses. Upon receiving your text message, we will send you a text message with our contact information.
- SUPPORTED CARRIERS: This program is supported by Alltel, AT&T, Boost, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and various other local and national wireless carriers.
F. PUBLIC FORUMS
We may offer Services with chat rooms, blogs, message boards, bulletin boards, the ability to post user generated content or similar public forums where you and other users of our Services can communicate. The protections described in this Privacy Policy do not apply when you provide information (including personal information) in connection with your use of these public forums. We may use personal information and non-personal information about you to identify you with a posting in a public forum. Any information you share in a public forum is public information and may be seen or collected by anyone, including third parties that do not adhere to our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for events arising from the distribution of any information you choose to publicly post or share through our Services.
G. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights related to your personal information:
- the right to know what personal information we process about you;
- the right to request certain personal information that we process about you be deleted;
- the right to request we correct personal information we have about you which you believe is incorrect;
- the right to have certain personal information we process about you returned to you in an accessible and useable format upon your request, if such request is technically feasible;
- the right to opt-out of having your personal information processed in such a way that enables us to create a profile or for targeted advertising purposes;
- the right to have your sensitive personal information processed only by us if you consent to such processing;
- the right to not have your personal information processed by a technology that produces an automatic decision which results in a legal or similarly significant effect;
- The right to opt-out of the sale of your personal; and
- The right to opt-out of any profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
- Nevada provides its residents with a limited right to opt-out of certain personal information sales.
Personal Choice Mechanisms
We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:
- Marketing. If you do not want us to use your email address or other contact information to promote or recommend our own products and Services, or third parties’ products or services, you may opt-out by replying to any promotional email we have sent you or following the opt-out links on that message. If you opt-out, your opt-out request generally will not apply to use of your information related to product purchase, warranty registration, product service experience, or other transactions.
- Accessing, Updating, and Deleting Your Information. You may contact us as set forth in the Contact Us section below to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that you have provided to us, consist with your rights as described above. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or negatively affect the information’s accuracy.
- Cookies and Automatic Data Collection Technologies. You may set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. However, if you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of our website or Services may become inaccessible or not function properly. As noted above, Google Analytics provides an opt-out tool which can be found here. In some cases, you may be able to set your browser or email program to not download web beacons.
- Interest-Based Advertising. Please see Interest-Based Advertising above for information on how to opt-out of interest-based advertising.
How we verify consumer requests
We may require that your identity be verified prior to processing a verifiable consumer rights request (a request to know what information we have about you, a request to correct incorrect information we have about you, a request to delete your information, or a request to receive the information we have about you). We may verify your identity by comparing the information we have about you against the information we receive when you submit your request. If we do not have enough information to verify your identity, we may request additional information from you, consistent with applicable law. We may deny a verifiable rights request if we are unable to verify your identity.
Authorized Agents
Some states permit you to designate an authorized agent to submit requests to exercise certain privacy rights on your behalf. Even if you use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, pursuant to applicable law, we may still require that you verify your identity depending on the nature of the request and sensitivity of the information at issue.
If you are an authorized agent submitting a request on behalf of an individual, you must include a copy of the written, signed permission indicating that you are permitted to act on that person’s behalf.
APPEALING A DENIED REQUEST TO EXERCISE STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS
In some circumstances, we may deny your request to exercise one or more of the rights described above. If you disagree with our decision to deny your request or any portion of our request, you have the right to appeal our decision within 60 days of receipt of notice that your request has been denied. If you submit an appeal to a denied request more than 60 days after you have been notified of our decision to deny the request, we may deny your appeal. If you submit an appeal, we will respond within 45 days of our receipt of your appeal.
If you wish to appeal a decision, please clearly and plainly describe your basis of disagreement with our decision by responding through the same means by which we communicated our decision or by submitting your appeal using the information provided in the Contact Us section below. We will review your appeal and either amend or uphold our decision. In either case, we will provide a written explanation of the reason for the decision. This decision will be final.

H. CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY
Neither our App nor any of our other Services are intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18 and believe they disclosed personal information to us, please contact us at childprivacy@salemmedia.com. A parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18 may review and request deletion of such child’s personal information as well as prohibit the use of that information.
I. RETENTION OF INFORMATION
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose or purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with applicable law. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include:
- The term during which we have a continuing relationship with you and provide Services to you (for example, for as long as you have an account with us or continue to use the Services).
- Any legal obligation to which we are subject (for example, some laws require us to retain your transaction records for a certain period of time before deleting them).
- Whether the information may be needed for other legal reasons, such as in connection with applicable statutes of limitation, litigation, or regulatory investigations.
J. SECURITY
We have implemented reasonable and appropriate security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the personal information under our control. Please be advised, however, that while we strive to protect your personal information and privacy, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you disclose or transmit to us online or through our Services, and are not responsible for the theft, destruction, or inadvertent disclosure of your personal information.
K. THIRD-PARTY DATA/SERVICES
(1) Social Networks. We may allow you to register for an account with us by using an account you have with a social network or other third-party, such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. (“Social Network Account”). Through such registration, you are granting us access to (and we may receive) certain information regarding your Social Network Account (e.g., friends, mutual friends, contacts, likes, etc.). We may make this information available on or through the Services and to our users. You may be able to restrict what information is shared and how it is used through privacy and other settings available through the respective Social Network Account. Also, depending on the privacy settings you have set in your Social Network Account, personal information may be shared with us and made available through the Services, to our users, and to the third party operating your Social Network Account.
(2) Third Party Services. Our Services may link to, contain links to, or embed functionality provided by third parties, such as reward programs, surveys, etc. (“Third Party Services”). We do not control or maintain Third-Party Services, nor are we responsible for the privacy practices employed by any provider of a Third-Party Service. We encourage you to read the privacy statements applicable to all Third Party Services before submitting any personally identifiable information through such Third Party Services.
L. Notice of Financial Incentives
From time to time, we may offer coupons or other price reductions for our products and services in exchange for your enrolling in email updates, newsletter delivery, contests, or similar services we provide to communicate with you. To provide these services, we utilize the identifiers you have provided to us and may use the details from your commercial relationship with us (from your commercial information). Specific portions of our website may provide financial incentives. To receive these financial incentives (or opt in), you will be asked to provide personal information through an online form, contest submission, or via social media.
To opt out of the financial incentives, please follow the applicable steps identified in the Your Rights and Choices section of this Privacy Policy. If you opt out, we will not reduce the value of any financial incentives you previously received from us.
We do not assign a monetary value to the data that we collect and strive to only use that information to further our business in accordance with our Privacy Policy; to the extent that we are required to assign a monetary value to your personal information it is equal to the value of the discount or financial incentive that we have provided to you, if any.
M. CONTACT & OPT-OUT INFORMATION

We will respond to your request and, if applicable and appropriate, make the requested change in our active databases as soon as reasonably practicable. Please note that we may not be able to fulfill certain requests while allowing you access to certain benefits and features of our Services.
N. SOLE STATEMENT
This Privacy Policy as posted is the sole statement of our Privacy Policy with respect to our Services, and no summary, modification, restatement or other version thereof, or other privacy statement or policy, in any form, is valid unless we post a new or revised policy to the Website and/or App or other Services.
